Looks like this is a "1st annual" century, in the Hollister area. Might be a nice ride for October. The jersey is interesting (but pricey!!).

I'm intrigued, and thinking about it. Late season rides are pretty hard to come by.

Hmm. Maybe the metric. What's the elevation profile?

If you're making a request, I think I can arrange it. ;)

Those shirts are awsome... unfortunately the economy has me in red alert mode!
I'm selling guitars to get bike parts...sad economic indicator:(

Looks like a perfect October ride, although I did manage to sign up for the Foxey Fall..

Actually, I'll be traveling that weekend, so unfortunately, can't make it. It does sound like a fun ride though - with or without G.:)

That looks like a nice ride. Our club end-of-the-season party is that day, so we won't be able to make it.

Of course we'll enjoy it vicariously through your ride report and pictures. ;)

I'd like to. It's relatively close, sounds like fun, and late season miles are hard to come by.

Gotta check my dance card, but yeah...... I'm in if there are no conflicts.

Well..... I tried registering at 10:17pm, and was told registration was already closed for this event. Evidently, this West Coast ride chose a East Coast registration deadline. :wtf:

I can't even make the end of the season party, I have a company picnic at the time of the party.:notamused:

OK - I fired off an email last nite, and received a reply this morning. I'm in. Turns out, they didn't know what to expect for the "1st Annual" ride, so arbitrarily set the rider limit to 350. If you send them an email, they'll reply with a registration form to fill out and fax back. FWIW, the jersey price on the form is $85, si it seems to be dropping......

Anyone else, besides me and kb5ql?

I'll be there. It's my hometown, and will be going back to do my first Century!

I might be game. How much climbing does the 100-mile ride do?

It's really not going to be that bad. The first 23 miles is practically flat except for one small bump that you will have to stand up for. (maybe 100 yards). You then get a few small series of hills, but you shouldn't have to stand up for any of them, and never climb for more than a mile (if that). At about mile 40 it flattens out for another 15 miles (which can get a bit boring and tedious), and then you have one long 2-3 mile climb and then descent before you get to the Pinnacles. Once you get to the Pinnacles, you have a decent in-the-saddle climb for about a mile (I think. I'm not perfectly certain about the route once you get into the park.)

On the way back you have to climb the same hill again, but, coming down the other side you get a nice 40 mph coast for about three or four minutes. It flattens out again, and you eventually take a left into Cienega Valley. This is the part that I am worried about. These last 20 or so miles have the most climbing of the ride, as well as the steepest climb. Although, this will also have the shadiest part of the ride. And you get a really long twisty downhill (alternate your brakes!). It's pretty flat for the last five miles.

So, I would suggest trying to save yourself as much as you can for the last 20 miles. I know that I am going to be. I'll try to keep from standing up as much as possible, and make sure that I am drinking as much as possible. It should be a pretty hot ride in the sun about 90% of the time.
