Folding Bikes - Anyone Attend InterBike 2008?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

what you need to know ?
Yes they were folders.....
I didnt see anything newer than the pics from Friedrichshafen show..... actually I think they were more folders over there than in Vegas.
Lets recap ....
Dahon biggest booth , nice bikes for 09 , a little to much black in my opinion .... They had a Toyota Prius in their booth which was holding 21 CUrve D 3
Downtube... Yan was busy walking the show, pushing one of his bikes around
PAcific had a booth..well not really a booth ..a place were the bikes were sitting around on cartons of carrymes ( yes they were selling them at the show) a couple reach and and IF Reach ,,tricycle carry mes and large threewheelers all on apile .. a little planning and structured booth would go a long way.
KHS only had their mocha on display and a 16 inch non folder instead their real nice ones they sell somewhere else ?
Brompton and Paisley had a nice display opposite of each other....
I am sure there were more but I had very limited time lookin around as I was super busy with my own Sapim ( spokes) and Pletscher ( Carrier and kickstand) booth
Thor
p.s. if anybody is even remotely thinking of getting a folder..... NOW its the time. If all the 09 prices will become public notice, you will be happy ( very happy) that you bought an 08 bike instead.

There was a guy on another forum who attended and said that Dahon had a carbon fiber Mu that he picked up and commented on how light it was... Does Dahon have a carbon MU?

Seems amazing to me that a vendor would bother to attend a show such as Las Vegas and not have a proper display to show off their wares.. and of course, Paisley should read Pashley

Go to Flickr and do a search like this one (http://www.flickr.com/search/?ss=2&w=all&q=interbike+2008+dahon&m=text). You'll find lots of photos to look at.

no Carbon Mu ......
Pashley of course.... ( I cannot even spell in my mother language , this one is the second one..... and Pashley would almost certify as the third one ?? being very British ..lol)
As an excuse for poor booth design .... The Interbike show is expensive as can get, and ou get nickeled and dimed , there seems to be a Union for everything..... Carpet,Electricity, Booth erection and take down , ...... If you send a couple wooden crates to Vegas and lets say it cost 2000 dlr from Chicago to Vegas, it costs another 2000 dlr to have the same crates delivered from the front gate of the show to the booth location ..... On the other hand empty bike boxes as kickstands for the bikes are simply not acceptable in my book......

PAcific had a booth...
When Pacific staff arrived we were surprised and not pleased with the display and representation of our product by our North American distributor. However, we made the best of it by then helping present MODE and Reach with our new IF technology.
Throughout the show the response I got from demonstrating and showing MODE was overwhelming. On the 3rd day when I arrived at Interbike with MODE, it took me 1 ½ hours to get from the front door to our booth, which certainly made for an exciting start to my busy day. Part of the reason I didn’t let MODE I out of my hands for the week because our special one off Porsche metallic brown Mode was stolen at Eurobike at the end of that show.
After spending countless months designing and developing Mode and other IF products, I enjoyed discussing our IF developments with all that visited the show. Thank you everyone for visiting and sharing your comments and excitement.

I was there.
Some observations re. folders:
-I asked a Dahon rep about that rumor that was posted here about a brompton clone patent that Dahon may be developing. He said he hadn't heard about it.
-Noticed a lot of chinese made folders with electric hub motors (and a lot of electric bikes emphasis overall).
-Kinda disappointed with the Brompton booth. They only had 2 folders and didn't have a titanium brommie, which I wanted to at least lift up.
This was only my 2nd interbike and I thought I would detect more excitement with high gas prices and all. As a matter of fact, I seem to recall a session having to do with making sure your business makes it through a recession.

Thanks much! The distributor's website (http://alternativevehicles.com/index.php?pr=Products) also looks like the equivalent of used cardboard boxes stacked up, but he seems very nice. Perhaps you could just replicate your website locally?
Anyway, it would be great to know when the 2009 bikes will become available in the US.
I got a few photos, and will be writing up a couple on my blog.
