I weight in at 250lbs, and I'm working on the specs for a mountain bike that I'd like to build up. Does anyone have any suggestions for wheels that won't disintegrate under my weight?

The bike will be used on rocky singletrack. I won't be using disk brakes, and I need 26" wheels.

I might get shot down by the others here, but you might want to check out a tandem wheel set.

Edit: oops, never mind. I think Tandem hubs are wider than MTB, so obviously they wouldnt work.

I'm' a big guy for biking at 220 and I've been as high as 250

my first ride had double walled rims but nothing form a haro excape 8.2 and my new rig which I bought at 235 uses bontrager race lite wheels

unless your doing drops larger than a few feet I don;t think you'll need to worry much about wheels I've personally not had any issues with either of my sets

I ride with a few bigger dudes too and no one riding rocky XC here is destrying their wheelserts but we generally do ont do any drops and jsut roll off the 2-3 foot stuff

I started out a whole lot heavier than you. I have used XT hubs laced to Rhynolite XL's and XT hubs laced to Mavic XM321 rims. Both have been flawless
