Hello, I recently went to Performance with my brother to try on the Giros Atmos because a lot of people have recommended it to me and said that its a very good helmet but when I tried it on it wasn't as a good of a fit as I thought it would be. Does anyone have any other recommendations for any other helmets?

I have a Trek Vapor that goes for about $50. It's the same thing as others costing $100-ish, but they sell lots of them and they are a rolling advertisement. So they go for relatively cheap. It's extremely comfortable with a good system to tweak the fit. I often forget I have it on as it weighs nothing. Just as safe as other road-type helmets costing 2 or 3 times the price. Plenty of ventilation, too.

Sure beats my old Bailen! LOL.

Ordered it online, wear it daily.

I like the Giro Xen, which fits my spherical head very nicely. You need to experiment to find a helmet which fits you properly. As with a bicycle or a pair of shoes, fit is more important than anything else.

My wife and I have an ongoing frustration. We go out to buy helmets that match, and never succeed in finding ones that fit. You see, I have a Giro head. All the Giro helmets I've ever tried on seem to fit me comfortably. Unfortunately my wife finds Giro helmets uncomfortable. She likes Bell helmets; finds them to be comfortable. Bell helmets never seem to fit me comfortably.

My advice is to try out a bunch of helmets and see which one is the most comfortable. All current standards meeting helmets will be as safe as one another. If you want to buy a helmet, find one that's comfortable to wear.

I have a Bell Triton. I spent only $40 on it and it fits me very well. I also have taken a spill at 15 mph and landed on my right side first, head hitting the ground second. My head was okay, and the helmet only sustained a few scratches.

Bell Furio. They run for about $60. Mine fits perfectly.

I wear a Vacuous brand Air Helmet.
It's so light I can hardly feel the weight, provides awesome visibility, adjusts in no time, and provides exactly the amount of protection given my riding style. (I do light commuting and am experienced enough to avoid standstill flop-overs onto pavement; if you have problems toppling over when getting unclipped, or are doing mountain or bmx biking you might need a thicker Styrofoam Hat type helmet).

The helmets are all basically the same, as far as safety goes. Go to your LBS and choose the one that fits the best, so you will wear it. One thing to look for is straps that are easy to adjust, they typically have locking ratchet things where the straps form a Y.
