but I've taken to running in addition to cycling recently. Does this make me a bad person? Am I frowned upon by my fixed gear brethren? Will I be banished to the tri forum? If I must go to the tri forum I will go willingly but with a heavy heart as I've learned so much in the fixed/ss forum. So tell me..."Should I stay or should I go now?". "Don't blow no bubbles" am i "Banned in DC". Should i be "Sailin' on"? am I "Screaming at a wall"? are you "Seeing Red"?

it's cool with me.. but then, I'm not as hardcore as some of the fixies here.. hell, my fixie is still being built up... and I do run from time to time... got to do something when I can't ride my bike :-)

I just hope your hamstrings take the transition better...or that at least you're not sprinting

Heck, I've been running and cycling for years. I can't go to the tri forum because I can't swim!

MKRG, if you start doing cyclocross races on a fixie, you will be the coolest person ever to post in fixed. Do it brakeless, and you'll be untouchable in here.

Constant leg motion. No stopping. Grunt uphill. Either fight gravity, or submit to it on the way down. Minimalism.

My background is running (well; tri really); Part of the draw of the FG (to me) is that it is so similar to running. Much more so than riding a MG.

From what I see of everyone else 'reason to ride fg' they feel the same; they simply dont realize it if theyre not runners.

I run and I can swim, but you won't catch me dead in the Tri forum unless I'm baiting someone.

It's cool to do whatever you like - that's what fixed is about. On the other hand, if you start writing about your areo ti frame, carbon aero wheels built on Surly hubs, and how your speedlaced SPD-compatible combat boots help speed your transition times...Well, you might have to move.

No sense in running, unless you're being chased...I vote for a temporary suspension from the forum, followed by a three month probationary period, six phase review process, and potential future debarment.

Mr. Superchivo and Mr. Schiek are correct in their direction, and I would have to fall into line with them on this. Based on past input, you have lead us to believe that your intentions in this sub-forum were that of using a single gear setting on your bicycle. This new development, which dilutes the purity of cycling discussed in this sub-forum, is unacceptable and intolerable. We would appreciate a decision from you on where you see yourself standing in the near future: in a field of lycra, changing from swim gear to bike gear, or in a bar changing from PBR to Schlitz. We look forward to hearing your decision so we can take the necessary actions on this recent development. For your reference, we have assembled a crack team of professionals to make fun of you and possibly even show up at your Tri's to drink copious amount of beer and heckle you.

It'd be cool if someone won a triathlon on a fixed gear.

I would like to add while riding faster than most of the competitors.

Why did the Tri-geek start drinking light beer? He though it came in Ti cans.

There are some people from the past few days who easily carry over into this day way ahead of goatboy.

Dude, I assume you are joking in this whole diatribe, but if you're not, just say: "p**s on them!"

MKRG

Actually I'm just digging for a reason to do a midweek "PBR penance". ie: 1) Ride to bar 2) Drink as much PBR and Burger as you can for one hour(I can't afford Schlitz) 3) Hunt down and crush tri-geeks (or alternately metrosexuals in miatas) 4) return home a better, stronger, redeemed man. 5) No shower...the stench of beer, sweat, grease and car exhaust will continue your spiritual cleansing for several hours post-ride.

ImprezaDrvr

Miatas are girly cars, can't argue that. Great on a track, though.

STAND BACK EVERYBODY!
ImprezaDrvr taught himself Martial Arts:
Justin (imprezadrvr@yahoo.com), a martial artist and lover of life., April 11, 2001,
This is how you learn a great deal in a short time!
I teach myself the martial arts and without proper guidance I was getting confused about Zen. With this book, I came to realize the obvious, martial arts are much more than fighting arts, they are the bridge between our spirits and physical selfs. I thank you Joe!

That's awesome. I've never searched my S/N before.

Yes, it's true, I can kick my own ass! I practice against myself frequently, and have successfully broken three of my own fingers and deviated my own septum.

Like they say, the only thing wrong with teaching yourself something is the teacher.

That's like saying you know what it's like to be on the rag because you hang around women.

Nothing, NOTHING substitutes for actual experience.

And no, I don't know what it's like to be on the rag.

Didn't really stop anything. Just had to work for the day.

In all honesty, I'm not sure how or why this comment made your balls swell with pride, but I'm glad it did. It just takes a few Miata drivers passing you to know that the car does well on the track.

I think I'll go play in traffic.

Desk kills me when I'm looking at the bike next to it.

WK, I was really just trying to figure out where you were coming from, not bash a Jeep. I said something about a Miata, someone *****ed about, I said something else and you chimed in. All's good, though. Hell, it's almost 70 here, which is strange for this early.

I'm gonna go play in the midst of the four cows I always see on my ride.

You're right. Nothing worse than mission creep.

Let's get back on track...

MKRG...you still are a LOSER with a lot of capital letters for wanting to be a runner/weight weenie/tri geek. And you can't wash that tag away with a couple PBRs. After Marge Schott died, I was even starting to like Cincy. Okay, maybe 'like' is too strong a word. But now. Nope. Can't do it. loser.

Loser? Tri-geek? I think you're just mad because I said you had ****-erotic dreams awhile back. (Not that there is anything wrong with that) At least Cincy has one or two redeeming qualities. D.C. blah! Nothing but a hive of scum and villiany. Take congress for instance.

Well, I've been lurking in the running forum for a day or two basically just reading stuff to be aware of any problems should they occur. Mostly just to get a running plan to get me up to speed since it seems running will help my cycling tremendously. There are a few things that I mind utterly disturbing and I'm not sure I want to run at all because of these. At first I thought it was a joke but sadly, it is not.
