Good idea or bad idea? After I took some suggestions from here I bought real lights. PB superflash stealth & Fenix l2dq5. So I had these knog frogs left over. white in front, red and rear. Cool? Meh? opinions?

I rode a few times with a guy who had lights mounted on the hub shells for fun. In my opinion, it didn't show up that great. What about attaching them to a reflective legband (white facing forward, red facing rearward), so they move in a cyclic motion with your pedal stroke?

I am in the same situation. I have found the Knog Frog's to be too directional. Other folks that I ride with put them on the hub so that was my first inclination. I have four so I am wondering how effective they would be pointing straight down at the pavement and lighting up the space around my bike. I will do some experimenting in the garage today and see if I can come up with something.

I mounted two on the stem and two on my frame pump mounted underneath the top tube. I angled them so that they were pointing down and out away from the bike. It produces a pretty good glow underneath the bike. I am going to see how visible this is tonight.
I have put the lights on the hubs before. The front hub light reflects from the rim and gives a pinpoint of light pointing forward. It is still directional and I am not sure how effective it is with a strong front headlight. I will give feedback after tonight's ride.

I think it is a bad idea if you are counting on the knog frog to light you up to be seen.
If you goal is a novelty then it is a good idea.
Just compare the knog frog to a real taillight (PB Superflash / Mars 3.0) and you will want one of those rather than a frog to be seen.
It does look kinda neat spinning around with your wheel though - but only from up pretty close.

These things are so directional that I have given up on trying to figure out how to use them. They are not cheap either. I recommend spending your money on something else.
