Being offered is one rarely used custom Zipp 404 Clydesdale rear tubular wheel. The rim is a 2007 dimpled Zipp 404 road rim so it does have a brake track. It is laced to a Shimano Ultegra 6600 hub. The cassette body has been replaced with a Surly Fixxer converter for use on the track. The Ultegra cassette body IS INCLUDED and can easily be re-installed for road use. It has 28 DT 14/15 spokes laced 2X making this one wheel is suitable for road, track or Clydesdale cyclists. The tire is a Continental Sprinter Gatorskin which has maybe 100 miles on it. The wheel itself was built in summer 2007 and was only used a few months.

I got this as a set of three Zipp 404's (two rears, one front) that I could use on both road and track. I sold my track bike so this wheel is now unnecessary. The wheel is durable enough for cyclocross if you replace the tire although it has never used for that purpose. The higher spoke count makes this wheel perfect for sprinters, heavier riders and daily training use.

Asking $500 - will go on Ebay within a day or two, likely with a higher price.

Can't afford the wheel but could you tell about that converter? I have an old shimano hub that's in great condition but the hub body has gone bad. I wouldn't mind recycling it to built a track wheel.

Just look up Surly Fixxer. It's the newer name of the Sub 11.0.
