As the days get shorter and colder I don't want to stop riding. Anyone recommend a good trainer under $200?
My LBS carries CycleOps, Kurt Kinetic, Minoura, TacX

I went with the basic Performance one, it has worked great for the last couple years, last I looked it was still below $200

Look for a used set of rollers for about $50.00 on craigslist.

The problem with any trainer is boredom, I tend to go mind dead and becaused the bike is fixed (does not move) my butt goes dead too. Encouraged by a few others I purchased a set of rollers. Riding rollers is just like riding on an 15 inch wide road, the bike rolls along you balance it. Let me point our just in case you don't know the bike is not supported or held up in any way. You can fall off (I have) but since the rider has no forward inerta you don't crash. I can clip out and catch myself.
Rollers promote a very desireable smooth peddle stroke since a hard thrust will push the bike to one side, remember the rider only has inches. If you want to work up a big sweat by hammering, rollars are not for you. If you want to develope smooth effortless cadence try rollers. This summer while rolling down a road I would tell mysef "think round" my cadence would change and the bike accellerate.
I find time passes faster when riding rollers than the usual fixed stand and because the bike actually moves beneath me my butt does not hurt from the constant pressure a fixed stand provides. Riding on rollers feels just like a for-real bike ride, I can't say the same for a fixed stand ride.

Boring is right...my HRM and a good bunch of recorded TV shows are the only things that keep me going.

I agree, it can get boring, but I use DVD's, music, and my HRM to keep me focused. You can also do a lot of interval work to break up the boredom. Do the one leg only pedaling on rollers is a good thing to do and then work to the no handed one leg pedal.
While over your price range new, these rollers offer a resistance too.

Wrong time of year to be looking for good deals. Most people are going inside to avoid the weather and the stores are raising their prices accordingly. I got a recumbent stationary just under 2 months ago for $200 and the price has already gone up 50 bucks. It will likely rise another 50 before winter is out, if not more.
Check out CL, like flip said, or ebay, but do it fast.
A lot of people have mentioned boredom, and this will affect you too, it gets to everyone. I started to treat my rides like a moving meditation, but I'm good at zoning out. So, that may not work for you, but it's worth a try. Just stick with it though and, eventually you'll find something that does.

Kinda your basic kit, but for 3 bills you can get one with the resistance thing in there. That'll keep ya less bored on your regular trainer.
