I'm plotting out a ride for my wife and I (pending a sitter) for Sunday morning. Looks like 55 to 60 miles, 2500 to 3000 feet (on a guess) total climbing, but no real extended climbs. It just adds up.

Start is near me in Rancho. Start time at 9am.

Idea is to head up the ARBT and then do a loop that starts up Hazel to Loomis, heads down through there to Folsom, and then around Folsom (E Natoma, Green Valley, Sophia, Iron Point) and back to the ARBT to start. I think it'll be a pretty good ride and traffic should be light on Sunday morning. There's a grocery with a deli before hitting Folsom, we can stop there for lunch.

No Drop, Laid Back rules in effect.

Anyone want to join us?

I may hit the ARBT and say Hi but I haven't been in a laid-back mood in forever, so much so that my goal is to finish Foxy's in under 6 hours. Lofty!

Pace will end up being determined by who comes on the ride. So don't write it off yet!

I'm 25 lb heavier than last year and have logged less than 1000 miles. No ride can be laid back enough right now. I should get out on my own for a bit before hitting the road with you guys. Too bad because I'd love to ride with fellow BF'ers.

The sitter for the kids came through. My wife and I are looking forward to the ride. Hope some join in.

What time are you planning to start? I might be interested in joining you.

9am is the planned start time. Same start place as our last one, right outside Hagan Park in Rancho Cordova.

Sounds like fun. I work in Rancho and live near Howe Ave, but I would never keep up at this point. One of these days though...I'm looking forward to it.

Linda, you never know. My bride isn't the fastest rider either and we are planning to follow laid back rules. If you can handle a 60 or 65 mile ride with rolling hills, you're welcome to come along.

No promises yet, but looks like I may be able to join in. Sounds like a great ride, and perfect weather! I'll update later ...

Hope you can Steve!

I'm looking at the map for this and it's possible that it'll be more like 65 miles. I really don't know. I've gotten 3 different estimates from 3 different mapping programs, go figure?

Anyway, here are the quick and dirty directions from Sac.
50 E.
Exit on Mather Field, Left at the light.
Right on Folsom
Left on Coloma.
Left on Chase.
Just past the high school, on the right, is a parking lot before the park entrance. Park there.

I'm working tomorrow afternoon, so we'll do a quick ride closer to home. Maybe next time.

What a fun ride! Bess and I came in at 65.84 miles, but then we rode from home to the start.

We headed out just after 9. Sharing the ARBT with an event called the "Princess Promenade," which was a gals only ride. It looked like they were having fun, and several were dressed in costumes. I wish I had a camera to bring on rides to take pictures.

Anyway, we took a snack break up at Folsom Lake and then ventured out onto Folsom-Auburn road to do the Loomis Loop. We took a break for lunch toward the end of that loop at Vic's market. Heading out from there, Steve had a flat in the front. He got it inflated but couldn't get his pump off. In the process of doing so, he broke the valve off the tube. I gave him my spare and he used my pump and we headed out again, planning to stop at the bike shop. Here's a picture of him changing the tube, and another of my wife Bess, and also Greg waiting.

So we get to the bike shop ok and go in so Steve can use their floor pump to inflate his tire the rest of the way. *BOOM* Yup, it blew off the rim. Now he had to buy 2 new tubes and had the shop do the install. We poked around while we waited and then hit the road.

This time we circled around Folsom, planning to pick up the ARBT across from the outlet shops. Coming down Iron Point at a light, I was unable to get my foot unclipped and went over. Scraped up my knee, bruised my chest on the bars, and knocked the bars way out of alignment. Got that all fixed and then finished the ride with no more problems.

All in all a fun time. Thanks to Greg and Steve for coming along with us.

Thanks again to Joel for organizing the ride, and to everyone for being patient with my tube misadventures. I'm really glad that blown tube didn't happen *while* I was riding over those bumps on the Rainbow Bridge!

It was fun to get off the ARBT, see some other areas, and get some climbs in.

BTW Joel, when I loaded the ride up to MotionBased, it showed total elevation gain of 3,550 feet. OTOH, Garmin Training Center shows 2,629 feet of elevation gain. I came in at 63.56 mi total distance for the trip.

Here's the elevation chart for the ride:

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/chart/get.mb?xy.domain=totalDistance&xy.ranges=elevation&xy.histogram=false&xy.legendVisible=false&xy.primaryRangeAxisVisible=true&xy.secondaryRangeAxisVisible=true&xy.rangeTitlesVisible=true&xy.domainAxisVisible=true&xy.plotForegroundOpacity=0.75&episodePk.pkValue=6915657&xy.plotForegroundOpacity=0.75&xy.autoFit=true&xy.width=340&xy.height=227

Here's my motionbased log of of the ride, if anyone's interested: ride log (http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/invitation/dashboard.mb?episodePk.pkValue=6915657)

Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for the update to the data. That's a big help. My Garmin is under weight as the epoxy is curing. Should be ready to go again by morning. If it doesn't hold this time, I'll have to replace it.
