I've been to a bunch of shops from Queens to Suffolk and always hear the same thing: They can measure me and order what I need, but nobody stocks cyclocross floor models.
Some good news is Monday I stopped by Sunrise Cyclery in Massapequa and I was told they're going to have a floor model of the Specialized Tricross Sport this week, and possibly a Cannondale. The models in these particular brands are a bit pricey, and the Tricross doesn't have the set up I'm looking for, but atleast I can see how they fit.
On paper, my favorites are Kona JTS, Jamis Nova, and Bianchi Axis. But it's a wide open category, and I'd be happy with any good value where I can get an actual test ride before buying. Any suggestions of shops that stock cyclocross near LI or Queens? Maybe even Manhattan?
