Hey guys;

I am currently running an MR16 12V 20 watt spot with one of these http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2055 14.4V 5ah NiMH batteries. The light is great. BUT, with the 20 watt bulb I'm only getting 2.25 hrs burn time - albeit consistently for that last year, so I can't really complain.

My question is: what sort of battery can I consider which would give me more burn time without doubling the weight - as it would if I just order up a 14.4 V 10ah from Batterspace? the one I have now is 2.5 lbs, which is fine. But I don't really want to haul 5 lbs of batteries around if I can help it.

Thanks. DanO

This one http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2232 1.35 lbs. You will need to get a charger for it also.

It claims 4 hour burn time for 26w bulb.

yea that's a good one. I looked around a little more and found this one. It's the right shape for my bag... albeit a bit more expensive.

Li-Ion packs are not cheap.

I don't know the full battery run time, but I use the batteries from my 12v power tools in my 12 volt halogen auto driving lights. They flood the road with light for the speed I am traveling. The battery fits in a water bottle cage and is held in place with an old velcro strap.

Have you gone the other route and tried a 10W Halogen bulb? If the light's adeqate it's by far cheaper solution.
