I just wanted to rant for a bit. Today, coming out of UBC, on 10th heading east bound waiting for a red light. I saw a cyclist turning on to 10th, a right hand turn. He bump into a lady crossing the street. The light was green for North South, so the cyclist can turn but the light was also for the pedestrians. The pedestrians had the right of way. If a car wanted to do a right turn, the driver would have to make sure the people walking across the marked crosswalk were cleared before they can turn. I know a bicycle has a fairly thin profile and if there was a big enough gap I think most cyclists including myself would have made a turn before waiting for the intersection to be cleared of pedestrians.
The thing that really annoyed me was that, this guy just rides off after bumping into the lady. Maybe you are a member of this forum as well and if you happen to read this. I would like to tell you that you are a ******. At least stop, get off your bike and apologise.
The actions of this one cyclist affects the way that the general public looks at us all.
