Can someone from Philly please recommend a LBS in the center city, mainline or northwest area that is competent and doesn't give a ton of attitude to their customers.

Over the last 5 years, I have been rotating between a few shops (would rather not name names) with no luck. While I appreciate talented mechanics and the work that they can do, I can't deal with BS attitude from someone who I am paying good money for their time.

Any help would be appreciated.

My favorite is Bicycle Therapy- no tude, just expertise and fast, courteous service. I've also had good experiences at BikeLine and Breakaway, though, so between these three you should find a shop you'll be happy with. I hope these weren't on your s**tlist!

I've had good luck with Bikeline, and recently had a very good experience dealing with Bean's in Paoli. I ordered a bike from Bean's and they spent plenty of time getting it set up just the way I wanted...with recommendations as to stem height during the fitting. I took it back for it's first adjustment and it was done while I waited. The mechanic didn't seem to mind answering my stupid questions either.

I got my bike at Bike Line at 1028 Arch St. The guys are terrific and they have zero attitude. The mgr is one of the coolest retail mgrs I have met in any business....give them a try

Cheers,

Brian

+1 on Bicycle Therapy, my favorite shop in the city. Those guys can fix anything, even a sheared hanger bolt from a campy RD.

Beans Bike Shop in Paoli. The owner Sean is good to deal with and is usually in the shop.

I'll second Bikeline. Very cool manager/staff. He gave me bearings for my hub for free. I have a 1990 Raleigh, and wanted to get a new wheelset, and he recommended I go to Via Bicycle to have it fitted (concerns over my 127mm dropouts vs. 130mm hub). So, not only is it a cool place, they actually referred me to another shop. Granted, Via Bicycle isn't exactly competition, because they deal exclusively with vintage bikes.

In my neighborhood (Northwest), I've had good experience with Wissahickon Cyclery.
