Road Cycling - Where can I find centuries and road races?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking for centuries and amateur road races mainly in the Southeast and Mid Atlantic regions, but I'm willing to go Mid West and futher north to Canada also. I don't know any good resources to find the events though, and my internet searches are coming up relatively empty. Can anyone help?

Go to your LBS.
Search google for local bike clubs.
Go to outdoor/recreation stores and look for a local velo news like paper. You may even find them in a coffee shop. Thre is likely an advocate group that puts one out. It will have a lot of good stuff beyod races for your area.

I like this site: http://www.bikereg.com/
also if you use google.com and just type "bicycle race <insert state name here>calendar" you most certainly will get somewhere: well here as a matter of fact for virginia:

Not races, and more than centuries...

I would check your lbs, and type in cycling in whatever state you are wanting to ride.
The links will give you several bike clubs and rides, get to know people from the clubs and they can keep you informed of different rides.
Florida and New Mexico and Colorado have numerous upon numerous rides and centuries.
If you ever want to know of rides in Florida or New Mexico let me know and I can send you some links or info.
Good luck

If you're in the western United States, check out this site: http://www.bbcnet.com/RideCalendar/RideListDate.asp

Our Spring City Cycling Club website lists rides in the Southeast. If you go to : //www.springcity.org/ and click on the "Out of Town rides" ,you can see a listing of ones that we exchange info with.

Our big club Century ride will be on Sep 18th; would invite you to join us then.

Believe the local races (TT/RR/Crits) will be held again in August. You can get info from the "Race Division" link.

Use google and type in (city, state bicycle clubs)
sans parentheses and you will almost always get a hit.
Then go to the links section of the website. Georgia
has a state wide web site that lists all sorts of competitive athletics events for the year in the state
and I believe Tennessee has something similar. The
Chattanooga club (?chattacom?) has a lot of SE links.
By bouncing around Virginia cities and NC you should
get a lot of info. Century rides are mostly in Sept but
there are a scattering in May and June. A particularly
challenging one is the Smoky Mtn Wheelmen's Cherohala
century in mid June. It is comparable but more accessible than Mt Mitchell and somewhat like Bridge to
Bridge, both in NC. Virginia has a messy century called
Mountains of Misery, not sure when it is though.

Starting in late March or April, there will be some race some
where within 300mi of you every weekend. In mid April there
is a pro stage race in N. Georgia and the Posties are scheduled
to ride there, including LA. Steve

Do a search for provincial or state cycling associations.

For example if you're in the Virginia area, you might look at the Virginia Cycling Association http://www.vacycling.org/
