Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Dear NYC,

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You lot held a pseudo cyclocross-y alleycat race last year that looked pretty awesome. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but I've been wondering if you're going to hold it again.
Hugs + kisses,
- Mike
I have no idea whether more of this thing will happen but i remember that it was called Tracklocross.

Ahh, okay ... It was the Mud Sweat & Tears Tracklocross Series and the actual alleycat event I was remembering was Sludgement Day (bonus points for whoever came up with that one). Thanks for the help w/ that.
So anyone know if there's going to be a repeat of it?

i recall seeing fliers and stuff for that one, i think it was on randolph island or something super random. sounded like if you didn't roll with 100% bombproof stuff, you'd be walking home, haha.
randolph island or something super random
i believe you're talking about Randall's Island (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=randalls+island&sll=40.727504,-73.980064&sspn=0.038701,0.090981&ie=UTF8&ll=40.780671,-73.944855&spn=0.073961,0.181961&t=h&z=13), which is connected to Ward's Island by landfill, and is where the Triborough Bridge hub resides (which connects Mahattan, Queens, & the Bronx).
I would love to attend such a alleycat race.

Dear all,
ROAR!

Revenge of Sludgement Day?
The Randall's Island Alleycatastrophe Part II?
Y'all think it should happen?
Oh.
Hmmmm.
I guess I better start making plans for next March.
It'll be like pre-season madness.
and yeah, people who didn't roll with bulletproof stuff were walking home. mechanicals included lost front wheel nuts, a broken crank, flat tires, broken spokes, loosening handlebars, torn clothes, soaking wet shoes. about 1/3 of riders didn't finish.

*Team Wreck Stuff would like to formally take credit for coining the term Tracklocross.
Ask user onetwentyeight about crossish stuff in your area.

announcement of rules up on tracklocross.blogspot.com:
1. FIXED OR SLICKS RULE: Your bike must either have either a fixed gear, or slick tires no fatter than 25mm. Want to ride your cyclocross bike? Fine, as long as you throw proper road tires on it. Wanna ride your fixed gear? Great. You're allowed to use cross tires. What? You only ride singlespeeds? All right, just make sure it has slicks.
2. SPECIAL TRACK BIKE CATEGORY: There will be a special prize for the highest-placing rider riding a track bike. By track bike, we mean a bike with: a fixed gear, geared at greater than or equal to 49x16 (700x23c). Plugged drop bars. No brakes. Slick tires.
