A couple combinations that have been recommended so far are Mavic Open Pro/Surly and Velocity Deep V/Dimension or Surly. Looking for opinions on these combos as well as other suggestions. I'm 175# and ride 99% fixed, although probably looking for the versatility of a flip-flop hub. Also, what are some good online retailers that carry single speed road wheels?
Thanks!

Surly hubs are good but can be finicky. They eat bearings if not adjusted properly. Though a sealed cartridge bearing is used, they need to be adjusted like a loose ball bearing. Not hard if you have cone wrenches and can figure it out which isn't hard at all. Just saying. Formula hubs IMO are the best i've owned, i've had some Surly hubs and like my Formula's much more, especially for the prce. Another combo for a rear wheel is. Mavic CXP33 laced to a Miche rear hub. Go to www.prowheelbuilder.com they are great, and carry Sury, Miche and Dimension hubs and you can have the wheel built for free. I'd reccomdne that site.

I stumbled across a CXP23/Formula combo on bicyclewheelwarehouse.com. Is the 23 a significant step down from the 33? I definitely want black. Prowheelbuilder looked like they only had the 33 in silver/brushed.
