General Cycling Discussion - Painting a Bicycle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

First and foremost, I apologize if this thread is in the wrong forum :) I live in Maryland and wanted to have my Trek 6500 Mountain bike repainted. It is currently a purple/maroon color with the suspension fork being a yellow color. I like the fork color but I wanted the frame to be navy blue. The decals will be removed by me and I also wanted to have the wheels painted black. Does anyone know if this would be an outrageous cost? I am willing to spend up to $100 or less. Anyone have similar work done? :thumb:
Check the Mechanics forum, they'll probably have more people who know how to do it.
I don't know if wheels can be painted. Remember that the rims are the braking surface, so they can't be covered with anything that's going to reduce friction or flake off.
