The bug has hit and I've decided to sell my other toy for a new road bike.

I think I should get between $2500 and $3000 for the car.
What type of bike/components should I be able to get for the $2000.00 range?
Is there any good buys in this range or should I look for used.
I just stared riding more seriously at the end of last year and won't be doing any racing as of yet, but would like to do a few rides this year.
Thanks,
Kevin

The good news is the new toy will get better gas mileage and will be cheaper to insure. 2k will buy you a nicely equipped entry level racing bike or upper middle level touring bike. There are many bikes to chose from in this price range. Most will be 105/Ultegra equipped which will give you many years of service and not embarrass you if you do race.

As has been said, there is a LOT to choose from in this price range. For almost full Dura-Ace (I think the brakes are Ultegra), carbon stays and fork, FSA crank, and Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels 2k will get you one of these:

I have the 2003 model and now that the chainring is fixed, it's flying!

I just purchased a new bike from coloradocyclist.com, a 2003 Litespeed Capella for only 1199.00 I was unable to find a bike as good as this at this price. Then you can use more money for the extra items. Good Luck

Which LBS is that? I'm in the same area. If the Felt is the 2004 model with the upgraded shifters and front derailleur then under $1900 is a good price. I paid $1800 for my 2003 with the ultegra shifters and front derailleur.

You can find it here on there website. I have the bike in my office while I wait for pedals. Every time I look at it, I am just blown away by how beautiful it is and how sleak it looks. I cant wait for the weather to improve so I can blast around.

Shosie's in Rockford
I think it is a 2003 'cause if I remember right, it had Ultegra.
MacMan, Where you located?

Naperville. Spokes is my LBS. The 2004 retails for around $2100 I believe because of the Dura Ace upgrades. I don't really see the need for the additional expense given that the Ultegra/Dura Ace setup I have on the 2003 is very nice. I initially had a problem with the front derailleur not shifting from the 39 to the 53 smoothly, but my LBS was brilliant in helping fix it - they called FSA themselves and said they had a customer whose bike just wouldn't shift. 2 days later a new set of chainrings arrived. On they went and off I went without a hitch! Now I just need the sun to come out and the wind to drop!

Felt is big in Triathalon and are trying to get bigger in road racing I guess, hence the feature-set. I had initially questioned the frame and whether or not it was decent given the bike price and the components on it. I don't think the frame is inferior at all. They have several second-tier pro teams riding them now. I really think the F35 is a great bike for the money. I'm doing the Sudden Century on May 2 and hope to pile some miles on in the next few weeks so I'll bore everyone with a reoprt since nobody seems to post much about Felts!
