This Saturday - October 4th in southern Denton County the Tour De Argle is being held. This is in the rolling countryside of Argle, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Copper Canyon, and Bartonville. I ride these country roads all the time and it is very secenic with alot of horse farms and big country estates. The roads for the most part are lightly traveled and smooth. The ride is a combination of some challenging hills and straight aways. Anyone in the DFW area that wants to participate should conslult the following website: http://tourdeargyle.com/
The weather this saturday will be perfect. The rally starts at 8:00 and offers a number of routes up to 62 miles - 100k. The Corinth and Texas Flyers Bike clubs will be manning the rest stops and local bikeshops will be offering mechanical assistance.
Should be fun come join us!!

A very successful event. There were approximately 300 participants. Since this was only its second year I expect this participation to increase as the word gets out. Kudos to the organizers and the local police departments who controlled trafic. A 25mph wind out of the south added a little extra resistance. I rode the 43 mile route which was a true 43 miles with pleanty of hills. I heard that the 100k was a little short - 59 miles but with the wind blowing in your face that last 5 miles I am sure the participants didn' mind. From what I can tell there were nothing but mild accidents and noboday got hurt. A couple of blowouts as are typical with rallies but that was about it. The reststops were well manned and provided refreshments, oranges, bannas, cookies, pickles, water and gatoraid. Mechanical assistance was provided by Bluebonnet, Mad Duck and Bicycles Plus. Richardsaon Bike mart was a major sponsor. There were also some photos taken but I don't know when or where they will be posted. All in all a great day! I certainly will do this again next year!!
