Fifty Plus (50+) - Aol closing 50+ (and other) web pages

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

AOL CLOSING 50+ (AND OTHER) WEB PAGES AS OF 10/31/2008
Not a big deal, but literally 100's of pictures I have linked from BFN 50+ to my AOL web site will now turn to little red x's in a tiny box!
Their service for web pages has been so poor that it is really a blessing in disguise.
Anyone have a good suggestion for a cheap easy domain for pictures and 6 web pages?
I currently have one web page on godaddy.com

AOL is still in business? Anyway, I use Flikr for photo hosting. It has worked great so far, allows a lot of storage space and the price is right (free).

Thanks. I failed to mention that I also have to rehost 6 web pages!

My wife has her web page on AOL. I've been telling her we (I) need to move it off of there.
I can't find any news of this. Do you have a link you could share?

Go to her web page. It periodically shows up as a link at the top of the page.

Since the email is free, time to pack my bags permanently. The web pages were the only thing keeping me there.
The sorting out of who survives and who doesn't in the digital age is likely to be an ongoing thing. I just hope I don't click on "BikeForums" on my favorite list some day and find it is not around anymore. But, it's very likely to happen sooner or later.

Denver Fox why not contact webmaster of denver bike touring club
his address can be found www.dbtc.org (http://www.dbtc.org)
(of course you'd have to join the DBTC but there are many active members
older than you (there is a DBTC wed group called the Roses who's average age is close to your age) and many members from parker and my guess more 50 plus DBTC members than
under 50 )

May not be what you are looking for but

works for me. It can be a real PITA having to move everything. Good luck.

Thanks for the thought.
In the past I was a member of DBTC. I had a rather bad experience with the group, and along with my innate desire to ride solo, I was convinved to no longer be a member.
But, many folks do enjoy riding with them, and they are a decent club.
I really want a long-term stable web hosting service that would lkely stay in business some time. This is the 3rd time I have had a carrier shut down their operations, leaving the web sites they hosted looking for other places to go. I had thought that AOL would meet that requirement.
Wrong again!
