OK, i want a nice and bright headlight to go on the front of my bike, As well as a good speedometer with many functions such as odometer, trip odometer, light up display, speed, and has to be easy to set up. i really dont wana spend more than $40, but i dont wana cheap-o depo.
Anyone got any ideas on which parts i should get?
1. Get a P7. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16091
2. Get batteries. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5790
3. Get a charger. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4151
4. Get a mount. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8274
Total cost is about $60. For that amount, you'll have brighter lights
(500 lumens) than you can buy for up to $500 without DIY fuss.

how about that charger and these batteries
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=370008925238
i personally LOVE IC-3 and its reliability, plus i already have a charger from IC-3 type. Plus i meant for my total price with the speedometer to be $50.
If you're really strung up, go with:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10727 - front light
http://www.amazon.com/Planet-Bike-Blinky-eXtreme-Bicycle/dp/B000KBEH1W - back light
http://www.amazon.com/Schwinn-SW654-17-Function-Bike-Computer/dp/B000DZD3FQ - computer
Altogether about $50.

i dont really need a rear light, so how about just a front light and a computer for total of $50? And has anyone used the computer listed? how good is it and is it easy to set up? Gosh, i should know all this stuff, my old bike had
front light
tail light,
turn signals,
brake lights
computer
rear carrying thing
light up seat
fireflys
good horn
trailer attachment
custom handle grips
shock seat post
Compass
GPS
and a whole lot of other things. you would think by now i would know what to get xD
This will probably be my last post on this thread. I've given two recs for what I'd use in your conditions, but the requirements keep changing, and there's not much acknowledgment of the help. Do some research of your own, mate.

How long a run time do you need for the light? What kind of roads will you be riding. Is this bike for commuting to work?
A Cylocomputer (not an odometer) can be had for very little money unless you want a bunch of features that most folks don't seem to use. The back lighting does exist, but it uses up batteries pretty quickly. Your far better off with either a headlamp to supplement whatever headlight you get, or get one of those small squeeze Led lights. The first time you have to fix a flat in the darkness, you'll thank me. Plus you can read road signs, look into your turns, and read that computer.
As for that other stuff... what did you have, a motorcycle? Because some of what you listed does not exist for bicycles. I have never seen brake lights on a bike. The last time I saw turn signals for a bicycle was when I was 10 yrs old, that was more than 30 years ago. You are far better off, and more visable if you learn to use hand signals. Not to mention you'll save a lot of weight and money.
Getting everything you mentioned for under 50 is a tough sell, but might be doable. We just need to understanbd your lighting needs better before we can help you.

Oh yes, I almost forgot... you NEED a rear light whether you think so or not. The autos coming up on the rear of you need to be alerted to your presence. After all, they are on the same side of the road as you and will pass closer than oncoming autos.

lol. i made myself a custom cruzer if you will about 4 years ago. it was a Mongoose Outer limit. then it was something else in the end. sold it a while ago. I just wanted it for the hell of it xD
but anyway, i dont ride on the street much, but sometimes i do. this is for my E bike. since its Fall, the sun goes down earlier, thus i need a good headlight. I can ride a max of 20 miles per charge or my bike battery, but most will be in the day. so i guess just 1 hour or so will suffice for battery time. I'll just buy another light up seat for the rear light. i need a new seat anyway. as for flats, i haven't gotten a flat in years. I used the Slime max (300% more slime) inner tubes. i used to go mountain biking, and many times i would be running over these

constantly. never got a flat. i dont worry about flats much anymore.
edit- and my turn signals were like these

i was a very active night time / in the rain / in the snow / off and on road biker.

An Electric bike? OK, is there any way you can tap into the bike's battery? That would seem to be your best source of power. If not uke's suggestion is a good one. I also have a Fenix L2d Q5 flashlight that puts out good light and uses 2 AA batteries. But the fenix costs more than your entire budget.
There is an electric bike forum, have you posted this question there? Odds are someone has already been down this road.

well, i figures this pertained more to the gadget itself than the bike type. there is no way im guna use my bike battery for a light. lol. in reality, i need the light for when its dark cuz sun set is earlier now. but i also need a computer so i can calculate my total battery charge left by the amount of miles i had riddin.

Unless you plan on doing a diy, I think uke gave you very good advice. You seem to have a very limited budget, the advice uke gave gives you the most lumen's for the dollar.
Even if you do plan on doing a diy, most of those exceed your budget. Maybe you could do a halogen system for that being you already have the battery.
You DO need a rear light!! There cheap.

here is the thing- i wear a very special outer layer of clothing, the color of witch is designed to reflect light. to put it quite simply, if you shined a bright light, such as a car light, the reflection would be enough to temperarilly blind you (seeing spots in your eyes). i don't not wear this cloths during the day, as it would cause many people to lose sight for a few minutes since the sun make its 10x worse than head lighs. I forget the name of the specific color, but i can assure you i need not worry about whats behind me. plus, on top of that i already have a rear light. I just need to focus on getting a computer and light for the front. uke gave exalent advice, but the first list was over budget, and since i already have a rear light i dont need to worry about buying a new one which gives me more money to buy a better light than he listed in the 2nd list. what is the best i can get for $50 for a front light, and a computer.

Screw it, i need a dang good light so im going with the one he originally recommended, the $40 one + the mount. i just ordered it. it more important than a computer which can wait.
edit- and also, does that P7 light take AA batteries? or what? i really cant tell. need to know asap.

Not AAs, it takes one 18650 Li-Ion. Get the protected ones.

It means I do not agree with you about not needing a rear light.

im assuming the light does not come with batteries? if not, can you link me to the ones you speak of?

never mind. I found the batteries and charger. Ordered them as well. I understand the significance of a rear light, but my clothes are like the moon, they reflect light so well its impossible to miss it. But like i have also said, no need to worry either way, i HAVE a rear light and i plan to use it. no need for a debate :)

These batteries http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5790. You will also need a different charger, this one will work http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1251

Either will work. I just purchased that one, but the 123 slots do not work unless you do a little soldering on the circuit board. Not a big deal, it shows you how to do it in the photos below the charger.
I just thought I would get that one, just in case I get a light that takes the 123cells someday. Will be able to charge them without a spacer.
