Introductions - D.C.Suburbs

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings from the 'burbs of Washington, D.C. I work for one of those infamous D.C. agencies that end in a vowel and live outside of the district. It is just too crowded, expensive, and not conducive to cycling.
I have two bikes, a Lemond Zurich I just purchased and a Specialized Crosswind I "borrowed" from my wife. She bought it a few years ago for herself, rode it about twice, and it sat in the garage for two years until I decided to give it try. I did, I loved it, and decided to get myself a real bike and got the Zurich.

Just curious, are you a friend of TrekRider? 'Cause he lives in the DC suburbs and has been talking about buying a Lemond Zurich...seems too coincidental to me...

Welcome to the forums. Looks like the DC area population has grown quite a bit and I'm just now noticing. Hopefully I'll see you and your new bike out an about.

Welcome aboard. I live in McLean and take the trails to DC to work, where I too am a federal employee.

There are several million people in the D.C./Baltimore/Annapolis area. I think I might know about 0.5% of them, and not one named Trek Rider! :D
I only know one other guy who has a Zurich, and it is a 2003 model, and I only see him once very few weeks.
Perhaps you are the resident paranoid? ;)

How true. A few years ago when the rest of the country was experiencing a housing bust, we were booming. I mean, they were and are building houses, townhomes, and condos everywhere! I used to live pretty much in the country, and now I am darn near downtown! Makes me want to complain to the feds, but then I realize I am the feds!

Assuming 3,000,000, 0.5% would be some 15,000 people that you know. WOW! :D
Welcome. I am flying to DC tomorrow, staying 4 nights at the Marriott Crystal City, then on to Florida then to the USVI (St Johns) for 8 days. From what I can discern there is NO biking in St Johns, but there is in St Croix.

Another N. Va resident here. I'm in Mclean as well and ride the W&OD most of the time. Welcome to the forums.
