Hey guys, can a wheel being out of true affect braking power with v-brakes?
I went on a pretty nasty(:muddy) ride and about halfway through my rear brake seemed to lose most of its power. I'd have to squeeze VERY hard to get any braking out of it at all. Also, when I squeezed the lever, I'd hear a kind of loud scraping sound.
I figured it was gunk or rust in the housing, so I got new housing and cable and new pads and put those on. Got a little better, but still kind of tough to pull and less power than before.
When the cables are off, the levers pull smooth and the brake arms are relativly smooth also. So the only thing I can think of that's left is my rear wheel is out of true side-to-side. Could this be causing the problem?
