For years I have used Performance 3xl shorts, now they have made them smaller and they are too tight.
What shorts do Clydes use? I'm not too concerned about price, just fit. I have a 40" waist and have tried Voler, Castelli, PI, and others in 2x with no luck.

Big and short or big and tall?

6'2" and around 205 pounds. Not that big, but I have a lot of trouble with cycling clothes.

I'm 6'2" and 210#. I wear xl in Castelli shorts/bibs, and large in most others that I've tried. I can't understand why you would need 3xl in anything.

There is a sticky in the Clydesdale forum that I think has some sources for large sized cycling wear.

I use Nashbar branded bib shorts in 3X (or is it 4X) that are a tight on me, but usable. I am much larger around than you are.

And a 40 in. waist?

I'm 5'9", 5'10" if I let my hair grow out, and weigh 215#. I wear large in PI, LG, and Ibex. XL in Verge. I must be wedging and shoe-horning alot more than you.

edit- like dubbayoo below, I'm a 36/30 pant

At 6'2" and 205, you should be a large (PI, Performance) or xl (european brands). Lycra isn't supposed to be baggy.

I'm 5'8, 250 and I can wear large in most brands (probably not Assos). I am pretty solid so I may have more of my weight in my upper body than most. I don't know my actual waist measurement but I have on 36/30 jeans.

Maybe I have a weird shape, but I tried on the Castelli 2x yesterday and I could hardly breathe. They were so tight I had a hard time peeling them off. 20 years ago I used xl in shorts and I was 10-12 pounds heavier.
The pair of 3x I got from Performance felt like my junk was in a vice, extremely uncomfortable.
I found some Addidas today at the LBS and they look huge. I'll try them on when I get home.

Aerotech actually makes some fairly nice bibs for the larger rider. I have a couple of pair myself. I am also moving into the Clyde forum.

I think I wasted my money of PI Ultra Sensors. They've really gotten sucky! $100 for nuthin'! Fit well but chamois sucks.

I tried the Quest model by PI. $45 and the chamois is much better IMO. Fit me kind of long on the knee, but you're taller so might do you well.

I use 2X, really surprised you have prollems with them as I thought you were a skinny dude!:D

Hey Beanz! My LBS guy said he has some PI shorts coming in that I should try. I think the Addidas pair I got is going to work. I'll try them tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Jaxgtr, Aerotech, huh? I'll look into that. Thanks.

Boure does custom, same price. Just give them your dimensions.

6'2" @ 225 this week. I like my XL performance bibs, so much more comfy than regular shorts. Plus my crack is guaranteed to not see the sunlight.

Try Sugoi Remote shorts... it's the only short I can fit into a 2x due to my large thighs.

big john, try ordering from the men's department:lol: I started out with around a 40/38 waist and depending on brand I am a large or xl.

I have a pair of their bibs. Very nice and they are a great company do biz with. I would recommend trying their stock stuff first as I found the pair I ordered to fit a little big in the waist. Will probably order one size smaller when I order again.

I really like the Nashbar gel essential bibs. They put them on sale a lot, anywhere from $29 to $39. They tend to run big so I wear an XL, whereas I wear XXL in most other brands.

Nashbar also has excellent return policy, so if you don't like them, send them back.
