Advocacy & Safety - Kill a clyclist, pay $110

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That's outrageous!
It's even worse when they have the two for one nights.
Does the Toronto bike plan include training cyclist not to ride in the Door Zone?

Hey here in the US, we encourage that... by putting "approved" bike lanes right in the door zone.

OK everyone, don't blame me for saying "Bike Lane" is this thread. I tried real hard not to go that direction.:popcorn

Why? The whole article in the OP is about bike lanes?

Just try to restrain yourself from then leading to the conclusion that ALL bike lanes are therefore deadly. That is about par with saying that since "little Johnny" burned himself, all fire must be banned.

Seems you must be reading too much into others post, based on your statement.:(
You of all people should remember when I and other VC advocates (including HH) said that mid-block, 5-6 foot wide bike lanes, going up steep hills, that are frequently swept; were just fine with us and even useful.
We don't advocate banning fire, but we do advocate not handing out blow torches to kids that will unsuspectingly burn themselves. (similar to giving a new, inexperienced cyclist, a door zone bike lane and telling them to go ride in it for their own safety).

I consider avoiding the door zone my responsibility as a rider.
Yes, I check the mirror before opening a car door when street parked, but could easily miss a cyclist and open my door right in front of him or her.
