Snow Wipes out Paris-Nice Fourth Stage
ROANNE, France, March 10 (Rueters)- The fourth stage of the Paris-Nice cycling race was cancelled on Wednesday following heavy snow falls.
Race director Jean-Marie Leblanc had initially considered amending the route of the 184km stage, from Roanne to Pu-en-Velay, before calling it off before the start.
Joerg Jaksche of Germany leads the race, six seconds ahead of David Rebellin of Italy with American Bobby Julich in third.
Paris-Nice's previous winners include Miguel Indurain, Stephan Roache and Eddy Merckx, as well as Ireland's Sean Kelly, who won the race seven years in a row up to 1988.
