My road bike is fine until I changed wheels. I have an extra set of wheels I use for racing. I just purchased a new bike. After putting a few hundred miles on the bike I swutched to the wheels I use for road races. Both rear cassetts are 12x23 9 speed. With one set of wheels no noise, with the other chain chatter in the front derailleur area. Help.

I have 2 sets and had the same problem. I concluded it was because the difference in the wheels caused the cassettes to not be perfectly matched or aligned in relation to the front derailleur. The angles weren't exactly identical.

I ended up adjusting the front der to the chattering cassette - a very minor amount - only to find it was now quiet for both.

Recently experienced this when I mounted a new pair of wheels on my MTB. Cassette position was slightly altered. You should be able to silence the problem by adjusting the derailleurs. Follow the process/procedures as outlined in the Barnett manuals (top of forum).

For me, all that was required was a little bit of tweaking on the rear derailleurs lower limit and indexing adjustment (Chapter 32, page 19). Didn't have to touch the front, by cases vary.

Sounds like, IMO, the dishing is different between both rear hubs, causing the chain to be at a slightly different angle and rubbing the front derailluier.
