I just got a Rock Shock Tora 318. It came with a rubber cylinder about two inches long with a hole down the center. What is this? Does it go in the bottom of the stearing tube?

I guess it is the spacer to change the travel to 80 mm. :roflmao2:

My Tora doesn't have that, so no clue. Doesn't look like the hole in the middle is big enough for a steerer tube to fit inside.

Yes, it's the travel spacer. Looks to be the 50mm one. If you wanted to drop the travel less than that, you can cut the spacer down to whatever size you want. Keep it around in case you ever decide to drop the travel. Otherwise, it doesn't do anything.

Thanks. I thought it was a spacer but could not find anything on the SRAM site. I guess it was hidden in 2006 manual.

Your link is even better. I was looking for the service guide. I had only found the owners manual and the specifications. For now I'll just leave it alone. I had read online to check the oil so maybe later.

I road the fork today. The lockout helps on the road but could be stiffer. When standing it bobs a little. With the lockout off it rides so plush I had to get used to it so I was ready for the back end to hit the bumps. The complaint is to weighs almost a pound more than my old Manitou SX. But then that for cost more than the Tora 13 years ago.

I weigh 195 and am running 160 psi. I think I could run a little higher but I need a pump. My Morph Graph stopped at 140 psi. Four more strokes and my gauge indicated 160.
