Lycra bike shorts: "freeball" or wear something underneath?

Seriously, do you wear briefs under them, or not? These things, I gotta know....

Baggies with attached liners (chamois padded liners).

Favorites are made by Nema. The Crown Jewels or the Stones are excellent. Great fit, great durability, comfy liner...etc.

Of course you know that there are no stupid questions. There are, however many stupid answers.

The stupidest answer ever to your question would be: "Wear underwear under your lycra bike shorts." In fact, padded lycra bicycle shorts are designed to be worn with nothing underneath. Briefs have seams that will chafe you and lead to infected saddle sores. Underwear bunches up and binds. It is not only unnecessary; it is also unhygenic and evil.

So, be a good soldier and remember the Underwear Nazi credo: No underwear under bike shorts for any reason ever. No excuses.

The first organized bike ride I went on in the mid 80's was one of those multi day events. I didn't know NOT to wear underwaer under cycling shorts. It's not like they come with instructions. I figured it out halfway through the first day when the seams were rubbing me raw and I kept pulling at my drawers. Finally a 14 year old kid asked if I liked wearing underwear under my shorts. I did a quick butt check and noticed I was the only idiot with panty lines. I have always wondered what the state park employee thought, when he saw my drawers, as he emptied that garbage can the next day.
