I don't have a lot of money right now but I am bike obsessed. I recently came across an 05 Kona Kikapu Deluxe in MINT condition. It's been ridden a couple times and looks brand new. This guy is asking 550.00 cash for it. Would it be stupid to pass this up? I have a retro hard tail but sure as hell wouldn't mind having a FS bike. Should i jump on it? I figure I can always re-sell it for a profit if need be. Let me know if this is a stupid question. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy for wanting to buy another bike.

Here's the bike. The one I'm looking at is red and white.

$550 for that bike does sound like a good deal. It's MSRP was $1600 when it was out.

I know! The problem is, which I didn't mention, is that I'm moving to Mexico for 6 months so it will just be sitting at my house. I don't ride on the trails a lot but I just love bikes and can't seem to pass up a great deal. I have a problem.

from the components that doesn't look like a $1700 bike, (deore, marz mx comp, and black eye rims) but its really good for 550, i'd jump on it and then go ride trails

I think I'm going to jump on it....if it's not gone. I wish I would stop finding great deals.

I'm reasonably familiar with Konas. I think there's a total of four in our basement (two FS King Kikapus, two Hahanas). For being ridden a few times, the Kikapu Deluxe for $550 would be a smokin' deal. Excellent opportunity to get into a decent FS bike for not much $$$.

If you don't want it let me know. I've always liked kona.

Wanna sell me one of yours for 550.00?

I missed it. You could say that I'm kicking myself. Need to stop listening to the girlfriend. :notamused:

The 16" that I have is too small for me. PM if interested.

Didn't want to start a new thread. This bike is 35 miles away and I don't know anything about it other than what's listed. Does anyone know what year it is? What's too high and what's a deal? Some information would be great. I can't seem to find this exact model anywhere.

Judging from Specialized archives, the newest this model can be is 2004. The place the rear shock is placed differs in the 2005 model. For some reason the FSR doesnt pop up in the 2003 archive.

I saw a picture of an 03 and the frame looked the same, but the paint was two toned and the decals were very different. Maybe 04.

As far as what I should spend. Any opinions?
