Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just wanna say hello to everyone in the US. My buddy Ryan and I are in DC for a 2-week folding bike pootle throughout the East Coast. We plan to ride around DC, Philidelphia, New York and possibly New England for the next 2 weeks on our Dahons (I am on an MU P24, Ryan is on a Curve... I know, I know... he insisted on his bike for the size and ease of packing).
We are driving our pretentious, self-righteous Toyota Prius hybrid rental car between the cities but we will be mostly riding and taking the metro while within the cities.
We are very thrilled to be undertaking our first overseas folding bike road trip. It makes the 24 hours getting here from Singapore on North West airlines worth it, haha!`
Welcome to the states. I hope you have a blast.

Awesome. New England is a great place to bike -- I go to Williams College and the Berkshires are amazing. Riding through the countryside in the fall will be just beautiful if you decide to visit the area.
Let us know over on the Northeast forum when you'll be in NYC. Half a dozen of us do random spur-of-the-moment night rides through the city.
Make sure to know the rules re folding bikes. I got yelled at for not having my dahon in a bag during rush hour http://www.wmata.com/riding/bike/bike_guidelines.cfm

Ditto. Since you are on a political tour, TimesUP! has bike rides all the time in NYC, and I would be happy to show you the Bronx Greenways or the Palisaides--both lovely wooded areas to ride through. There are good paths all throughout the city that are car free, including one that ends up in a Mexican-Chinese neighborhood with amazing food.

Sunset Park. The path runs down by the waterfront all the way through to past the Verizano bridge.

If you are in NYC on 10/11 & 10/12, then make sure you get out to Governors Island before it's closed for the season http://www.govisland.com/ and bike around Lower Manhattan & Downtown Brooklyn to check out the Water Falls before it ends on 10/13. http://www.nycwaterfalls.org/#/how_to_visit/Bike_Route and check out Bfold.com http://www.bfold.com/ the one and only folding bike shop!
