Pacific Northwest - A fine day for the Kitsap Color Classic

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I put off registering till the day of the ride. In fact, I hadn't even made up my mind to ride until 7AM this morning when I realized the weather was going to cooperate. Am sure glad I went! Perfect fall weather and I even ran into Benjiboy on the ferry ride over (I actually recognized him because of the description he gave in a post about his Davidson) and ended up riding more or less with him for most of the day. He's a really nice guy and good company as well as a great riding partner.

The roads didn't have too much debris from yesterdays storm and the routes were interesting with rollers, peek-a-boo views of the water, and some small steep hills to catch unsuspecting riders that hit you after going around sharp corners....

We ran into East Hill at the Poulsbo food stop and admired each others bikes. Her Schwinn Paramont is a nice example of a nearly perfect Paramont for the '70s and it's very interesting because of it's component selection most of which is original. Her passion for cycling is evident from the moment you meet her. It was a real treat to meet both of you!

I registered this morning as well and you couldn't be more right! What a great fall day for a ride. The support from Cascade club was excellent and the treats were yummy. I had to wait for a terribly long time at the casino for the green arrow. Did you?

Hey Northbend,

Nice to meet you. My new training goal is to be able to keep up with you...I am happy you were not on your "fast" bike!

Also, as always, very nice to see East Hill and catch up with her ever-expanding collection of bikes.

See you both again soon, I hope. If I don't lapse into laziness before Spring I will try to figure out how to get a classic and vintage ride going in this area. I am wondering whether we could do it in conjunction with the Cascade bike club; it could be part of their regular ride calendar as well (though it might require that someone goes through the Cascade Group Ride Leader training).

I think there are enough of us out there with vintage bikes that we could have a nice C & V ride.

I will plan the free beer and pizza meeting spot a bit better, though.

Actually, Campana's didn't open until 4.00 pm. Way too late for us riding the course.

We had pizza at the 'Woodfired Pizza place' on Front Street. The pizza there was pretty tasty.
