Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - What do you guys think of this bike?

Hello all!
I've been reading the forums for a bit now, just signed up a month ago or so. i have a Bianchi geared bike, and am looking for another bike. But since looking at the forums single speeds and fixed gear have started to get my interest. you guys say their simple which makes sense, builds good leg strength, and is good for winter because of the simplicity of it. Well i've started looking around and found something i like on craigslist just thought i'd post it here and get some thoughts on the bike if its a good starter bike for single speed/fixie

For $350 you can put together a much better bike. That is very expensive even if the Vintage frame is "flawless". If you look hard enough you can probably find one just like it at a garage sale/thrift shop.

yeah for 350 the frame should be 531 with campy dropouts or better. I dont know what the market is like there but i think a conversion should be no more then 250

Ive sold many, many, many, conversions for $300.00-$400.00, and unless one gets the frame for free its a fair price :thumb: I usually pay around $100.00 for a decent frame/bike (like the one your looking at) and around $200.00/$250.00 for a set of cheap-er flip flop wheels, and thats not counting tires, tubes, and the work! So yeah, I think its a fair price :) (but Id still offer $300.00! :thumb: )

There's all kinds of levels of bianchis... Italian, Japanese, Taiwan, etc. You really have no idea what you're buying. Might be a 27" wheel up front. He makes no mention of components, so you have to assume everything's the crappiest possible.

or you could ask what model/tubing it is, and end up with a fantastic deal on a specialissima or something (actually kinda looks like it in those ****ty photos).

Hipsters love cool old bikes. Well, that's not the only definition of hipster - after all, by that definition, Joey is a hipster, which he probably isn't - but it's one definition.

gotta go to the velodrome dude--- you must understand what a track bike is--and what a road bike is to understand 'conversion"--- that bike looks fine, price is high though -- but study more about vintage steel and geometry----

that looks like a decently done conversion, and converting a bike yourself gets expensive quick. They are black holes for money, you'll want to keep upgrading stuff. The only thing that gives me pause looking at that bike is the bar angle and brake lever positions. Seems like a guy who works on bikes for a living would set that up correctly.
