my current regime consists of 3/4 sessions inside each week of about 70 minutes each and 1 longer ride at the weekend (about 35 miles on average). last year i did a couple of centuries and a double.

am thinking about doing a 6 day event in the alps next year which takes in a fair amount of the big cols, averaging about 105km per day with an average of 1544m ascent each day.

does anyone have any advice (or can point me to good resources) where I can find out about training for a hard multi day event such as this?

When you say 6 day event, are you talking about a loaded tour or are you talking about a multi-day stage event?

For the distances you've mentioned, the touring forum would be the place to look if you're doing these 6 days loaded with all your gear. I'm betting the road forum, and maybe the road racing forum, would be where to ask for training advice if this is a multi-day stage race.
