I want to order some studded tires this week... the only question I have is whether to get the Nokian Hakkapeliitta or Nokian Mount & Ground? Has anyone ridden on both and prefer one or the other?
I ride on plowed streets. They are not main streets or bus routes, but do get attention fairly quick. Last year I road on Innova Tundra Wolfs (my mistake). The tread pattern is similar to the Hakkapeliittas, and I did have a bit of trouble in 1-2" thick, snowy slush (not "watery" slush). Towards the end of our abnormally long 100" snowfall winter I think they stopped salting the 2" snowfalls.
After reading Peter White's site ten times, I think the Hakkapeliittas may be okay, but am considering sacrificing a bit of increased rolling resistance if the Mount & Grounds handle a wider range of conditions... especially that dry snowy slush.
Thanks!
