Hi everyone im new to ebikes and i would like to know anything and everything i should having a DUI suspension on my driving record. I'm very interested in picking up an electric scooter. I'm 10 minutes away from work and considering the gas prices this is somewhat of a blessing. No license, no insurance, no gas! With a DUI can i ride an ebike?
Thank you..

In many areas of the USA, an ebike is considered to be a bicycle when it is riding on the roads, provided it follows e-bike requirements (usually, power no more than 750 watts, speed no more than 20 or 25 mph, designed to be able to move on pedal power alone).

I would guess that if the law calls it a bicycle and says "no license required" then a person with a DUI can still use it.

There may be individual state laws, but typically an electric bicycle is regarded to legally be a standard bicycle (as mentioned by Cerewa) so long as it follows the guidelines. Here is a list of electric bicycle laws, including international information and state specific information.

There are a small number of states which do seem to require licensing, at a glance.

Im from Ontario, Canada and there is absolutely no where online i can get a straight answer other than less than so many km's and pedal assisted. Are ebike scooters considered motor vehicles?

In Oregon to ride an ebike you don't need a license but do need to eligible for one. If your license has been suspended or revoked you're not legally allowed to ride an ebike or e-assist bike. Sorry I can't help you with Canada.

Check this (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/page/?o=3Tzut&page_id=92470&v=f) out. Scooters will be considered vehicles in Ontario by October 2009. Currently if you have a license suspension, you can ride an ebike, but legally the police have the right to pull you over and if you are drunk, you can be charged. All bicycles are vehicles and you will be in "care and control".
