I have recently been thinking about getting into biking again. I use to a lot when I was a kid and we all know you get sucked into life and next thing you know you haven't done something in a long time. I live in Franklin, TN and I have been trying to find out about bicycling laws here in my local area and Tennessee's state law. I can't remember really coming across any since I was younger, but I think their is a helmet law but on some sites it is for 16 or younger. I couldn't tell by the site on what year that was so I don't know if that law or others have came up since that. Where could I find the local and state laws in my area. Most of the things is for motorcycles but I just need the bicycle laws. Any help would be great, thanks.

There is no helmet law for adults in Tennessee. I actually have a print out of TN bike laws at the office, but I am at home. Generally speaking, rules of the road apply to us excepting we are required to stay as far right as 'reasonable'. Cars are required to give us 3 feet when passing. Is there anything specific you would like to know.

Here's a good summary. Helmet law is for persons less than 16 years.

something else Tennessee also has about 1000 miles of bike trails and greenways and I think there
one in your area
the department of transportation could have a map of the locations if that will help you any

That is just what I was looking for. I know their is a trail way in Brentwood. And I know their is a couple of off road trails, but I'm not ready for anything extreme yet. But those were just the things I was looking for.
