I just picked up a set of FSA Gossamer cranks for £45, without chainrings. Brand new, original box, all bolts included, just no rings. Seems pretty good to me, considering I paid that much for some boring old Shimano RX100s not two months ago (grrr).

i've done that... and recently. picked up two new panniers for 40 usd and a trunk bag for 20 cause it was cheepo and my good bags are in england... *sigh* miss my good bags. but the new ones will work until my darling brings me my good bags. and then he can use the el'cheepo's if he wants to. (he hates panniers so i don't think he will even look twice at them.)
cheers

Shoes that are the wrong size or look really lame. I then ask myself, why did I buy these? If your not going to wear them.....then whats the point?
I bought one of those rolling backpack luggage bags several years ago for only $15. I didn't need it at the time since I had a nice daypack and I already had nice rolling luggage. Then I discovered that if I could use it solely as a bike-equipment bag which was handy for supported tours. It came in especially handy during the STP. I could throw my clothes and stuff in it, throw it in the support truck and when I retrieved it at the midway point, I could ride with it as a backpack from the bag dropoff point to my hotel.
I bought a snow shovel 8 years ago because it had recently snowed in Seattle and it was a good price.
Earlier this year, I used it for the first time.
And, I bought a 6 month old Trek 5500 in perfect condition and less than 500 miles for $1000.
Don't know what I'm gonna do with it. ;)

Did you wear it on your back or tied to your seatstays, trailer-style? :)

I wore it on my back but the other option was also considered one time when I was wearing my CamelBak. I then figured out a way to strap the CamelBak to the luggage backpack but the thought of trailering it does have some appeal. :) The luggage backpack was a pretty good deal. I've seen it going for close to ten times as much at luggage shops.

I bought a lot of cheap things when I was an impoverished university student. I also got a surprising amount of use out of them. Having said that, now that I can afford better products generally, I'd have trouble going back.

I think that I tended to buy "cheap" deals at about 4 in the morning mostly. The commercials target the fact that I am half asleep and that bed made out of space foam stuff is just calling my name!

I bought a new pair of native sunglasses for no reason. But hey they were cheap!
and now I have a backup incase I ever break my oakleys. which will never happen because my mom would kill me if I broke a pair of $250 sunglasses.

I once bought a mini bike pump for the equivalent of about $3 at my local supermarket. Still works after 3 years so I am impressed with this bargain.
This same supermarket stocks generic LOOK shoe cleats for about $2. The strange thing is that you always find these bike products near the dog food section...

If it's going cheap you can send some of that snow over here if you like.
