I am wanting to build an xtracycle, and I have a couple of options. I wanted to buy the kit and put on an existing bike. But, I was wondering to all the experts on these bike what the best type of bike.

I havea stumpjumper 2002, with a decent set of components that I use to mt. bike. So, I was wondering if it would be better to use this bike to make the xtracycle and then buy another used mt. bike to replace it. Or if the stumpjumper build would be too much for the xtracycle, and it would be better to get a $200 - $300 bike to use to bulid into it. I also found someone who has an xtracycle kit that they aren't using that they will sell for $400.

I would not be my main bike b/c I commute to work 17 - 18 miles. So, I either use my road bike, or my mt. bike when the weather is really bad.

So, what do you think the best approach is?

I'm not personally familiar with the Stumpjumper, but from what I've heard and seen it might be a good X fit.
