I was going thru some old posts tryin' to find some info...and it's amazing how many people are pushing old pedals...nothing wrong with that, it's actually cool that not everybody has to have the latest & greatest.

I'm riding a 80's Centurion...I've upgraded quite a few pieces, but it's still an old steel ride...

What are you riding?

i have no idea, it's an older steel pinarello, repainted and the serial number doesn't follow what this site (http://www.gitabike.com/cgi-bin/shop/sc_loadpagez.cgi?user_id=id&file=frames_reg.html) says is the format. mine is on the bottom bracket and has a letter, followed by three numbers.

i assume it's either from the 80s or 70s...

oh right...my other bikes... 80s van tuyl pursuit, 70s lotus sprint track, 90s terrible one BMX, 90s ross glenn canyon modded for trials, and 60s/70s monark road/cruiser...

My road bike is a Nishiki International my dad gave me. He told me that it's around 30 years old.

I know it's off-topic, but I get the same question when people see my 02' Mesa...

And the looks you get when you tell other mountain bikers you have a Schwinn...I guess they don't whether to think you're broke as a convict or just dumb...but when you ride as hard as they do and as smooth as they do, they really get confused...go figure

I ride an 83 Nashbar Tour XC. I have since spread the rear triangle and run an 8 speed with single 42 chainring. I race it CX and commute on it. She's a great worhorse of a bike. Tange 2 Tubing with Sugino crankset and Suntour xc components. Note Avatar :)

'91 Specialized Allex Epic - Carbon Fibre, Al lugs, DA 8-speed. The thing's heaaaavy! Built before CF construction went high tech.

I'll probably replace it with a Louis Garneau LG7 at the end of this season (assuming I don't get laid off... I'll know by then)

I like my yellow-white '91 RB-1, of course. Even the original Ultegra barcons are great (though I've never considered myself a retro-grouch...).

I have a 94 Scott with over 60.000 miles, my best guess...Has to be pretty accurate...I have changed out almost every major component group..Keep it for taking on trips. And riding about during our winter.my winter road bike.
I think it in pretty good shape..At least the ride is.
When a bike gets that kind of miles on it, think there might be some kind of hidden structural problems with the frame? That kind of wear needs be found out pronto...Cracks and problems with welds are always obvious?

My "old" road bike is a 1999 Raleigh R600. It's also for sale. :)
There wasn't a decade selection for my main ride - 2001 Litespeed Tuscany.

I'm looking for a new bike to replace the Raleigh once it is gone. Maybe carbon.

Old smoothness mixed with new technology: 1988 Bertoni Nuovitalia lugged steel frame for the ride quality, but upgraded components to Dura Ace 9, Speedplay Zero, Brooks Swift, Mavic Cosmos. Love it!

I too have a mid-seventies Raliegh Gran Prix in the garage, though I don't ride it much. I usually switch between a 1988 Benotto that I recently restored and rebuilt and a 1999 Schwinn Circuit.

'88 Paramount. I have a '99 canondale but didn't like it as much as the old steel steed, so I stripped the ultegra 9speed off of it and reshod the paramount.

Hi Don, sorry for not seeing your post sooner! I just added a 1978 Raleigh Rampar R1027 to the stable this past weekend. The thing is in NEW condition and rides great! I put 22 miles on its maden voyage yesterday. Its not as nice of a ride as the Grand Prix. It weighs more and is a bit stiffer (bumpy) than the Grand Prix. But still a lot of fun! Here she is below:

Hello George! :) Glad to see you again.
Yes, the bike made it back to LA as well as myself. In fact, it is still being ridden every day and same old chain and tires are still refusing to retire. :D
