Northeast - Where are the patches?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just got back into cycling after many years. It has improved my health and I feel 20 years younger.
I have a large selection of patches from all the centurys I rode in the 80s. I've been on quite a few in the past two years and found out nobody gives patches anymore. I was hoping to expand my collection. When and why did this practice stop?

They give out medals now. Not sure how that came about....

The most recent patch I have is for the Beast of the East ride in 1993, after that most events started giving out t-shirts. One reason I miss the patches is that they were very easy to store or display, now I have two drawers filled with t-shirts from the various rides over the years. Eventually I'll send them to one of these people who can cut up the shirts and make a nice quilt with them, then I'll just have to figure out where to hang the quilt:lol:
The Sea Gull Century still has 'em

The Woodstock Century gave them out last year. Out of the dozen local centuries I've done, that was the only one.
I think 5BBC (http://www.5bbc.org) gives out patches to anyone who completes all five perimeter rides.
