General Cycling Discussion - Saturn commercial

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is anyone else bothered by the Saturn commercial that has the cyclist running into the side of the car? Very poor taste, IMO. And ironic coming from the company that sponsored America's premier domestic cycling team.

Yeah, it irked me too. But I'm way beyond expecting reasonable behavior from car companies ;)

word! Stop seeing offence in every little thing they show on TV that has to do with bikes............. Yes, even if the biker runs over a cat :D ! I wonder if someone started thread for that “Got chocolate milk?” commercial with DH biker flipping and falling :p
I'm still pissed because I drive a 2002 Saturn that broke down 2 times in a week. Don't get me wrong, I still think they're reliable cars. However, the first time they told me it was fixed. The second time, they told me that they weren't sure it was fixed, but they gave me the car anyways and told me it was fixed. You know what I mean.
Now Saturn has a commercial where a cyclist rides into the side of a car. They could have picked something different, like a deer or something.

If they would have picked a deer or something like that, then we would have animal rights people starting threads. Any way you look at things they find some ways to get on forums and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I just make fun of things like that. See>>Hahaha muah—muah---hhahahaha :D

I haven't seen it yet, but it doesn't surprise me a great deal. I think once you accept that some people will do anything for a sale, you cease to be surprised by this sort of rubbish. My solution: turn off the television and do something else.

Good advice in any case.
Sorry guys... When I watch the commercial, rather than seeing a goofy cyclist running into the side of a car, I see a car company trying to strike a chord with drivers who hate cyclists. They're bad enough without the encouragement... that's all I'm sayin'!
After enough close calls you get thin-skinned about this kind of stuff.

I thought the commercial was pretty funny. I even laughed when the bicyclist hit the car. Guess I have a wierd sense of humor.

I have not seen it . My personal unfavorite was the right Gaurd power stripe commercial." Poster Hears a deafening silence " Where the two numbskulls stretched a Huge rubber band across the road to trip up cyclists , to demonsrate how the deodorant worked. I hope the peloton caught them.
