Well I will take a picture tomorrow but I just picked up my Cannondale Cyclocross Disc Bike today. Even though it was very very windy I couldn't keep myself from going out so I went and rode a quick 10 miles. If any one is looking to buy a new Cyclocross I would suggest taking a look at the Cannondale Disc.

Congratulation! It's a great bike. I didn't have the funds, so I bought the Cannondale Cyclocross 800 (it's non-disc version) and I have been very pleased since. I haven't raced it yet (a month old), but have put some Armadillos 28s and pushing a lot of road miles. Enjoy your new ride.

Yea I rode 12 miles today due to a time restrant I couldn't go more but the 27th of this month I am riding in a 40k race so I need to get a few more miles in so that I can get the bike broke in correctly.

thought i would bring this thread back to life as i am thinking about buying the 2004 model.

Do you think its worth upgrading some of the components to ultegra?, i'm thinking particularly about the chainset and brake leavers, are there likely to be any compatability problems?.

I'm probably going to use it mostly on the road, partly for training and getting some miles in and maybe for cummuting too.

any other thoughts on the bike welcome,

I think the upgrades are worth ever penny. I also am using it for a road bike mostly but in fall/winter I like having the option of throwing on some tires that can ride in gravel and what not. I also like the stronger rims that are included in a cyclocross bike. One thing I might let you know is unless you are extremely narrow shouldered if that makes any sense at all you will want to get an aftermarket bar. I got one that is cyclocross specific to where the drop downs are flared out a little. Any other questions you might have just let me know.

thanks, sounds like we will be using them for similair uses.

So i guess the Cinelli Altera bars that come with the bike are a bit narrow then?, I saw on the Cineeli website that they come in three widths (40,42,44cm). I have measured my shoulder width (i'm fairly skinny!) and i think the 44cm ones would be ok, guess i'll have tocheck with cannondale.

Also regarding the fit, did you end up buying one size down like Cannondale recommend?.

and......what pedal & shoe combination did you end up getting?.

I should probably explain that its been some years since I have regularly used a road bike, SPD pedals were just coming in when I stopped clycling so a lot of the terminology means nothing to me. I used to just ride 'look' but i quite like the idea of the SPD shoes you can actually walk in!!

The bar that comes with is is a 40 center to center or at least very close. I will look at my bike when I get home from work today and post the bar brand that I ended up getting I dont remeber because I got i used from the shop. I went with a 54 I am 6ft 1in and I ride a 56 on a road bike so to answer your question I did go a size down.

Ok as far as shoes I wear a pair of specialized MTB shoes

and a $50 set of mtb clipless pedals. I will probably put those on my old mtn bike and get some lighter shimano or crank brothers.
