I just completed my first triathlon and I loved it!! My bike leg was strong and so was my run. My swim was terrible though. I found myself floating on my back and doing breast strokes. I was one of the last to get out of the lake. Will this be the same story when I do a triathlon or can I get better?? And how can I get better??

Get to the pool and swim, swim and swim. Do 50yds non-stop, then 100yds and then 500yds. Before you know it you'll be swimming 3000yds non-stop. :thumb:

Moreso than the bike or run, swimming is all about technique. See if you have any friends that are swimmers that can give you pointers on your stroke. Other than that, It's swim swim swim

Find a swim class nearby and take advantage of it if you don't have a friend who is a regular swimmer. And even then a class may still be the way to go. I have been working with a friend of mine for almost a year and am still slow as heck, although my form is getting better.

Like flatmaster says, TECHNIQUE TECHNIQUE TECHNIQUE, technique will get you further faster than more yards/meters in the pool, get someone to watch you, tri out some DVDs, do drills.
