Utility Cycling - Republicans say walking & biking are wacky (Xpost from Commuting)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

In a hotly contested House race, the Republican is attacking the Democrat (http://austinbikeblog.org/?p=1072) for advocating that people walk and bike to get places.
Last gasp for a Party out of ideas?

How have the mighty fallen! The party of Lincoln, Roosevelt (Teddy), Eisenhouer, Nixon, and, yes, even Reagan, reduced to. . . . this!
I know its election season and all, but don't we already have at least 1.5 forums dedicated to politics?
Uh, well, we DO use dogsleds up North.
I think you completely missed the point of the ad. And one member of the House somehow speaks for the entire party? Think, man, think!

Well, face it, if she proposed we should all drive bigger cars faster, the Republican ad would promote bicycling. It's politics.
(Last time I checked, Democrats seemed to mostly drive cars around here. If the only people that voted Democratic were on bikes, that'd be about 1% of the population.)

Anyone know which model Trek he's on?
Trek's got both Democrats and Republicans riding their bikes. The only true winner is Trek! ;)

It appears to be a 2005 Trek 7000 (http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2005&Brand=Trek&Model=7000&Type=bike)

At least, he's wearing his helmet right. I don't have a picture, but there is a televised interview with Montreal's Mayor during Mtl's Car Free day, and the guy went on to ride for the photo op. He was wearing his helmet with the pointy side in the front during the 30 seconds interview !

Nah, Bush Jr. is an avid mountain biker with a huge engine. Lots of pics out on the 'net with him coming back to the ranch, secret service officers in tow. The officers look like they just got their ass handed to them, every time.
