Is it just the picture or is that saddle extremely WIDE. I'd be concerned about chafing and sciatic nerve problems. But then I prefer a fairly narrow men's mtn bike saddle.
I've also heard that the nose of a saddle is important for steering and stability.

a pound... you think that's too much? i think my current seat weights more so this is not a bad thing in my mind... + with all the stuff i lug around on my bike one pound isn't nothing. i'll haul a 5 gal jug of distilled water + 2 - 4 panniers full of groceries home, or lug into town up to 8 loads of laundry. (i don't do laundry as often as i should.) so the seat weighing in at a pound may seem alot for most cyclists, but to me it's really nothing. *shrug* and when i don't have anything on the bike i sure can haul some tail. i'm just thinking that w/o the nose on the seat my nethers won't go numb like they do w/ the current seat. and i won't have the nose catching the back of my shirt like my current seat does. i hate that!
cheers

I'm trying to imagine how this is possible. The nose (which is on the FRONT of the saddle) catches the BACK of your shirt???
And how long and loose are you wearing your jerseys? None of mine come any lower than my hip crease, and they are all fairly snug (more aero dynamic and less flapping). There's no way they would come close to catching on any part of my saddle.

it's about the size of a beach cruiser seat, but you also have to keep in mind the part that chaifs you is missing on this seat. hence i think no pain involved. only thing i worry about is staying on the thing. when i tested it i had a feeling i was either putting too much presure on my arms or i was going to slide off of it. but then the bike it was on was not set up for my size. the bike itself was too big for me and the handlebars were down as far as they could go so i really was sliding off the thing. had the bike been set up for me i think it would have been much more comfortable.
i don't know worse come to worse i'm out 25 bucks and i learned something. best case though i'll have no more pain in "that" area.
cheers

The nose isn't the part that chafes me, it's the part where the saddle starts to get wide in the back, and that saddle is ALL "the part where the saddle starts to get wide in the back".
However, we're all built differently so what works for one won't necessarily work for another. If that one works for you, then that's great. And it is a good idea to try different saddles to find one that does work. It amazes me when people tell me they quit cycling, or don't cycle much anymore, because the saddle was uncomfortable! That is one of the easiest changes to make, and it doesn't (necessarily) have to cost a fortune. I've got about 10 saddles in my collection, and have tested a whole pile of others.

em, yes well.... i do wear the regular cycling gear but i usually wear things well oversized than what i should, and then wear something over that to cover things. i like my tush covered. i'm probably a freak but well, i don't rightly care. you should see how many lights i hang off dear francis. you'd see my point. always figured if they were pointing and laughing.... they see me and i won't get hit. well i kinda worry about them laughing at my tush and not my lights... ok yes *hangs head* i'm a freak.

oh how i envy you and your skinny tushy. if i could get away w/ a skinny saddle... *sigh* but alas, i'm built to need that beach crusing, wide angled, beastly sized saddle. and your right we're all built differently.... not many built like me either *EG i can take out a PU truck w/ this back end of mine!* and yes i agree, can't see letting a silly thing like saddle sores stopping me from cycling. (more like saddle scars!) love it entirely too much to give in to the pain. so if this baby don't work... i'll keep looking to find one that does. but i may not get to try it for quite a few more months. *sigh* oh well. poor francis collecting dust waiting for my stupid visa... but that's an entirely different thread.
cheers and thanks for the quotes.
