I was doing some google searches for prices on tires I'm looking for, and I stumbled on a craigslist ad for used Nokian 700c Hakkapeliitta W106 35mm in my area (super lucky find). The guy claims they have 365 miles and he wants $20 each. If they appear in good shape, should I spring from these instead of the $50 a piece for new ones?

look for missing studs. no missing studs, then 20 bucks is great price

Some missing studs is an entirely normal thing and won't affect performance. The studs should be proud of the tire surface when inflated. Nokian studs don't so much wear as push through the tire carcass. My heavily used 296's (now retired) still look only slightly worn after several thousand road miles. The centerline studs don't grip because they've pushed in far enough. It's hard to spot.

ona 296 yes but not on the 700c tires. you need all the studs to ride like ya want

Perhaps you folks should refer to Peter White on this (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/studdedtires.asp).
I would just make sure there are no side wall cuts and that at least half the studs are still there.
I didn't lose a single stud on my W106 from last winter with similar milage.
