Eddie Merckx - Majestic Ti.
hmmmmmmm, 1600bucks for a Merckx Titanium frame?!
http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=PRODUCT&PRODUCT.ID=52
Sounds too good to be true, does anyone have any experience with or know anyone with one of these frames?
Also, what did they build it up with?
I currently ride a Fuji Professional but have been looking into getting a Ti bike for quite sometime now.
Any feedback is much appreciated,
thanks!

I can't say if its still the case, but I'm pretty sure the Merckx ti frames were made by Litespeed. I've seen one and it seems nice, but nothing special. I think Douglas, the Colorado Cyclist house brand, is similar.
The Douglas 6/4 ti frame is a better bike and deal. Both are Litespeeds.

Check out GVH Bikes.
He's got Merckx Majestic's for $1550. His bike kits/pedals are great value as well, either Shimano or Campy. I recommend him in terms of good solid service ... just know what you want.

You probably are paying extra for the Merckx name. His frames tend to cost twice the amount of frames built in Asia, America, Spain etc....I guess the winningest cyclist of all time can get away with it.

I've ridden my Merckx TI for a year now and love it. I am not a competitive rider but savor riding. I found it stable on winding decents on bad roads and strong on the climbs. I picked up the frame at a bike swap meet so luck played a role. $800 W/out fork and the owner offered to build it up to fit me all campy and the ouzo fork was a great match. (Totaled out at about $3000.00 when done.) 60 mile rides with no discomfort for a part timer seems to give a good idea of the comfort level. Built by litespeed to Eddy's specs so it would seem to be the best of both worlds. I plan to keep it the rest of my life. (In the salty air of Hawaii, I have no fear of corrosion that destroys cars, electronics, cameras, and other wonderful things I enjoy.) I highly recomend it and I feel Eddy might occasionally smile for all the riders that profit from his touch. He has a way with frames aside from his fame. Ride happy, Nick.
Yes, from what I know of the Majestic, they were built by Litespeed to Eddy's specs, not only the geometries but also the tube types used. Too bad they're "out-of-production" now.
