Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Gotta Get Your Woman Riding With You! They Get Excited Too!

So I've been having trouble with the stock crank on my Lemond. Stock crank with over 15,000 mile the last 3 years so it's time. Since Gina knows what is involved in cycling and gear, she says," find yourself a new crank online". Heck, don't gotta tell me twice. So I find a new Ultegra setup for a good price online with the BB. Ordered and shipped yesterday.

After work she says, "you need some tights for the cold weather coming, let's got visit the shops". Again, don't gotta tell me twice!. So we head out to a few shops. End up finding some PI tights for 25% off at REI. Reg $85 for $63. Heck, my first pair of tights. I've been using the leg covers for years but she insisted on tights since she loves them.

The crank was my first online purchase ever. Always seemed to find good deals so never really needed to go online. This time, with the crank, I found a good deal. Well at the shop, we're in the tire section. So she says, "well now that you're an online shopper, you should go home and order some good tires at a better price". What the....., I think she's trying to create a monster!:D

So on the way home she asks where I plan to take the bike to have the crank removed and replaced. I have a freind at a shop that is an excellent mechanic so I mention his name. I could do it myself but why buy tools that I will need only once to remove the cartridge type. Besides, he's a pro! The new setup is the outboard type bearings which BTW, is supposed to be much stronger than the old setup. Plus, means I'd have to buy two sets of tools to do the job. She say that sounds like a good idea, he does great work.

Then she asks when I will take be taking it into my bud. I say as soon as I can. Then she says, "take it in tomorrow so that it is done by the weekend". Then I'm like, "Gina, I haven't even got the crank yet, I just ordered it today!:...."Oh sorry, I just got excited!" she replies!:thumb:

How cool is that? Woman getting a little more excited about bike stuff it than I am!:D

My wife and I buy two of the same of everything. Right now we are waiting shippment of our new road bikes. This defiantely has some postives, but for every purchase it is double the price.

Nope! Her CF bike aint that old and 3X's the price of mine, so not wanting a new bike! Matter of fact, all her gear is about 3X's the price of mine. Even her helmet came with a case to lug it around. She has like 10 cycling outfits and jerseys. I have like.....1:D

Prolly feeling guilty!:p

Pink, HA! That's the reason Gina has a helmet with pink flames. We were supposed to get a Pink Trek roadie. When we went to buy, there was a blue FULL carbon with FULL Ultegra for the same price as the pink partial carbon with Bontrager components. I talked her into going with the blue FULL Carbon Ultegra bike instead for the same price!:thumb:

Nope! Her CF bike aint that old and 3X's the price of mine, so not wanting a new bike! Matter of fact, all her gear is about 3X's the price of mine. Even her helmet came with a case to lug it around. She has like 10 cycling outfits and jerseys. I have like.....1:D

Not a hybrid, but a pilot that has a more relaxed ride. It maybe out of YOUR price range, but not your wife's :roflmao2:

A week ago or so, I rode with a lady who rode a bright pink bike either this or a Dolce. I could hardly hang with her and she did a century the day before:notamused:

Buy a nice hybrid in any colour, order a set of replacement decals, strip it down, get it base coated in her favourite shade, before the final layer of clear-coat put on the decals, so they are protected by the clear coat, build it back up, and you have a pink bike.

BTW Like Mrs Beanz, my wife has a blue bike and pink helmet...... Trying to convince her to go to the bike show and sale next week and maybe get each of us a pair of bike shorts..... :D

I'm fortunate enough to have a wife who fully supports my riding (and other healthy activities) even if she doesn't participate in them herself. I did have to do some negotiation before buying the Salsa, though. I was hoping to keep my Specialized Allez, but had to sell it to help finance the new bike purchase. In the end I think it just saved me the time of having to maintain two bikes anyway.
