Can some body tell me who sells inexpensive bicycle lugs , because I found free recumbent plans a while ago then I tried to find some cheap large size 10 speed lugged road bikes here in Portland Oregon and I couldn't find none (I'm 6'3 so I needed large frames). Can some body help?:rolleyes:

I'm having difficulty stitching your request together. Are you looking for cheap 10 speed recumbent lugs? As the title says? Or it's an either or, you would build a lugged bike or carry on with your recumbent plans. Nova sells the lower priced lugs for road and mountain bike use. I don't know of a lugged recumbent at any price, and certainly nobody who sells the lugs. Almost every recumbent is of a unique design. If you wanted to make your own lugs you could follow some recent threads on that in this forum. There can also be a lot of joints in the average chromo recumbent requiring a lot of odd lugs. Essentially they would be made by welding together tubes into lugs, so from a purely practical perspective, you might as well just weld the frame.

Could you tell us how to locate Nova (if they sell direct) or is there a link if they have a website or are there bike shops that sell Nova lugs?

If you're looking to buy a cheap lugged frame to take apart and convert to a recumbent, try The Recyclery on 11th (across from the Lucky Lab), Citybikes Co-op at 7th and Ankeny, or Community Cycling Center on Alberta. If you're going to be cutting them apart any way, try to get a couple frames that are bent up already.

FWIW: a couple of the local recumbent riders built Easy Racer style bikes from plans. They both came out pretty well, although one eventually broke underneath the seat. This was after being ridden cross-country in about a month: http://www.ohpv.org/mea/intro.htm , though.

If you're wanting to build a bike, this is probably the best route. If you just want a recumbent, I'll be putting my old Tour Easy up for sale once I'm finished reconditioning it. I'm 6-foot-4 so it will probably fit you.
